Built for professionals, the MC Pro is a 5W RGBWW lensed mini LED panel light featuring LumenRadio CRMX and a durable IP65 construction. Based on the original Aputure MC, the MC Pro features a similar compact form factor while packing in a comprehensive suite of professional functionalities – making it the perfect tool for a quick eye light, fill light, or a light that can be hidden in the scene.

4x the brightness. Built with a custom optical design that features a tighter 45º beam angle to balance quality and output, the MC Pro creates a sharper and more focused spot for cinematographers and gaffers who require the extra punch. With the ability to output 1,586 lux at 0.5m at 5,600K, the MC Pro is 4 times brighter than the original MC.

Light control in seconds. Modify the softness or direction of the MC Pro in less than a second by stacking the Flat Diffuser, Dome Diffuser, or the 30º Light Control Grid together or separately using the magnetic accessory mount. The MC Pro is a quick multi-functional lighting solution that is ready-to-go whenever you need it.

Another awesome light

Great piece of gear , well built & solid.
Amazing choice of color & effects packed into a small unit.
Perfect for a fully controllable onboard eyelight or as an edge armed out 3/4 back.

Good product, but is it 200$ good?

I have many of the regular MCs and have been using them for several years. I was excited to give the new MC Pro a whirl and see how it compares.
My first impressions taking it out of the box was that it definitely seemed premium. The case that comes with it is superb. I was very impressed with the three modifiers that come with it and the versatility they provide. And I was pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of a magnetic ball head.
The MC itself is as solidly put together as every other Aputure product. The buttons and menus are an improvement over the original MC (I didn't really have a problem with them, but these are better). The MC Pro is larger than the original, I estimate 15% bigger? But it is brighter and can apparently sustain those extra lumens for the same duration as the original which is a good thing.
Overall I don't have any complaints about the MC Pro. It's a very nice product. I think the question that needs to be answered is, is it worth 200$? Especially when the other is listed at 90$ but can often be purchased for 80$ or less. They perform the exact same functions, all you really get with the Pro is the magnetic modifiers and more lumens, in a slightly larger package. My answer, I'll be looking for sales.

Every Cinematographer Needs This Light

At first, my plans were to use the MC Pro simply as an 'eye light', but after testing it, it's clearly a tool capable of so many applications; fill light, splashes, lighting fx, pushing practicals, work-lights on trucks, etc. Feels like a light that can 'save a shot in a pinch'. It has enough intensity to supplement the existing ambiance, whereas the previous version seemed to really serve as a 'final adjustment accent' or an eye light. Aside from the light's output capabilities, I'm impressed with the modifiers and build quality–it was wise to make this system magnetic–so easy to switch everything out. And should you drop this light, it doesn't seem like the kind of build that would shatter or crack, it's solid and dense, and partially made of aluminum. I would love a longer battery life, even if it meant the light was larger or thicker, but you can charge it while in use (via USB-C), so that's a huge feature! Phenomenal product, and can't wait to see how this light serves on every job going forward!
